Topp!

Martin

Wow!

Re: Connect-to-Smile 2016: Babylon
Many thanks for all your remarks and compliments.
I made this diorama especially for the event of Connect to Smile in Balen (Belgium). It took me about 6 months to preparate this diorama. I wanted to do Babylon, but in the beginning I had different ideas. I wanted to do the tower of Babylon, but it cost me a lot of materials (I wanted to have more buildings than only the famous tower) and it took a lot of space. Space was in Balen no problem, There was space enough :-) About 6 months ago I saw the movie 'Alexander', where Alexander the Great entered Babylon. I decided to do that piece of Babylon for my diorama. The famous Isthar gate, the hanging gardens, the victory boulevard and the high buildings with a huge crowd near it.
At home I hadn't enough space to make the whole diorama. I did it in parts and only in Balen I made it complete. It took me 15 hours at one piece to build it in Balen. At the end I was surprised that it became like the idea in my head. For me a personal success......
The scene which I used for my diorama.
